What is Spiritual Crisis, Spiritual Emergency and Spiritual Emergence?
"So Afraid", by Jennifer Elam |
A spiritual crisis can
be described as a turbulent period of spiritual opening and transformation.
Spiritual crisis is also referred to as spiritual emergency, where a process of spiritual emergence, or awakening, becomes unmanageable for the individual. |
| A person
may experience psychological or mental health difficulties. Hence
the term psycho-spiritual crisis is also used sometimes.
If understood and supported appropriately, these experiences can be deeply transformative, offering the possibility of breakthrough rather than breakdown. Read more about what we understand as spiritual crisis. |

Support for those in Spiritual Crisis
Our volunteers offer limited support to those in Spiritual Crisis and their carers. Please contact us by email initially: info <at> SpiritualCrisisNetwork.org.uk We will try to get back to you within a week - if your Crisis needs a quicker response, please don't delay in seeking medical help. Regular mental health professionals are becoming increasingly aware of the spiritual dimension.
What is the Spiritual Crisis Network?
The Spiritual Crisis Network is a loose group of interested people with a core development group of a dozen or so.
Some of the development group are experts by experience, having been through personal spiritual crises. Some are mental health professionals, including psychotherapists, occupational therapists and a consultant clinical psychologist. Some have both personal and professional expertise.
To express an interest in joining the development group, please email info <at> SpiritualCrisisNetwork.org.uk
